The Bill Gay Show Atlanta Classic Hits & Talk Radio

From the GAB, first, in our “It Sometimes Pays to Be a Local Kid Who Makes Good and Becomes a Big-time Media Icon” Department, Dunwoody High School is renovating and enlarging the school’s athletic complex and football field. It will be renamed “Seacrest Stadium.”
Yup, not only did 1992 DHS grad Ryan Seacrest get his start as an audio personality as the host of the school’s morning announcement on the intercom, opening each day’s mini-morning show via the school intercom system with a chipper “Good Morning, Dunwoody”, but he also played for the school’s football squad that won the 1992 AAAA Regional Championship.
Ryan, mom Connie, and dad, the late Gary Seacrest were actively involved in the community’s 20-year campaign to raise funds for the new field, and Seacrest himself reportedly pledged $1 million toward the goal.
After getting his radio career started at Atlanta’s Star 94.1/WSTR, Seacrest eventually would replace Rick Dees at KIIS-FM in Los Angeles, host the nationally syndicated “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” show, serve as the ringmaster and announcer for “American Idol,” and, as of last year, replace host Pat Sajak on “Wheel of Fortune.”
