Alicia Keys is celebrating the 20th anniversary of her landmark 2005 MTV performance with a new vinyl release. The deluxe 2-LP black vinyl edition of Unplugged is set to arrive on October 3, 2025, through Sony Music’s Legacy Recordings and AK Worldwide.
Recorded live on July 4, 2005, at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Keys’ performance was a historic moment, becoming the highest debut for an MTV Unplugged album since Nirvana’s in 1994 and the first by a female artist to debut at number one. The album went on to sell over a million copies in the United States and over 1.5 million copies worldwide.
This special anniversary edition will give fans a chance to own a piece of music history, featuring her soulful, stripped-down renditions of hits like “Unbreakable,” “If I Ain’t Got You,” and “Fallin’.” The vinyl release will also include two tracks not featured on the original pressing: “How Come You Don’t Call Me” and “Goodbye/Butterflyz,” offering a more complete picture of the intimate concert experience.
The album’s success cemented Keys’ status as a leading artist in pop music, with the Unplugged album earning her numerous accolades and four Grammy nominations in 2006. The new vinyl release serves as a powerful reminder of the lasting impact of her artistry and her ability to connect with an audience through the raw power of her music.
