Today marks the fifth anniversary of the launch of BIN: Black Information Network, the nation’s first and only 24/7 national and local all-news audio service dedicated to providing news coverage from a Black voice and perspective.

Launched on June 30, 2020, BIN has grown into a key source of journalism, storytelling, and community engagement focused on serving Black communities across the United States. Since its inception, the network has achieved major milestones, including:

  • Reaching more than 19 million monthly listeners
  • Distributing BIN news content to over 100 broadcast radio stations nationwide
  • Delivering locally relevant coverage in 65 of America’s largest Black communities

“BIN: Black Information Network has become a trusted and indispensable voice for Black communities in America,” said Tony Coles, President of BIN. “In just five years, we’ve transformed how local and national news reaches our audiences. We are giving a voice to the stories that have gone untold for too long. We are providing freedom to journalists to pursue meaningful reporting – and we’re just getting started.”

BIN is celebrating the anniversary across its network of stations, podcasts, and digital platforms, inviting listeners and partners to reflect on its progress and look ahead to its continued mission of delivering trusted, community-focused journalism.
