WHJX Hot 106.5 proudly welcomes DeDe In The Morning to its weekday lineup beginning Monday, January 12, expanding the reach of one of radio’s most recognizable nationally syndicated morning shows. The program will air simultaneously on HOT 106.5 and CMG’s Tru Hip Hop station Power 106.1 (WJGL-HD2), marking a rare dual-frequency morning show presence in the Jacksonville market.

DeDe was a top 4 show with African Americans in Jacksonville. DeDe’s debut on HOT 106.5 coincides with the launch of DeDe In The Morning: Pays Your Bills, giving listeners five chances each weekday to win $1,000.

McGuire, a radio Hall of Fame inductee (Class of 2025), is a multi-award-winning broadcaster who has been named multiple times as one of Radio Ink’s Most Influential Women in Radio. Her honors include a Gracie Award for Host/Personality – Nationally Syndicated Radio, the AirBlazer Award for Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio, and the International Black Broadcasters (IBBA) Lifetime Achievement Award.

“Jacksonville has consistently supported DeDe In The Morning, and I’m excited to officially join the HOT 106.5 family,” said McGuire. “Being heard on two stations in the market allows us to connect with even more listeners each morning.”

Elroy Smith, Director of Urban Content at Cox Media Group and Program Director of HOT 106.5 and Power 106.1, called the move historic for the market. “Airing the same morning show on two urban frequencies is unprecedented in Jacksonville,” Smith said. “Power 106.1 continues to serve hip-hop listeners, while HOT 106.5 introduces the show to an R&B audience.”
