MC Marcus Chapman Hosts New “Best Of The 90s” Radio Show

MC Marcus Chapman

Beginning this Saturday October 2nd, veteran on-air personality, music historian, author, and TV One Unsung contributor MC Marcus Chapman will host, produce, and program music for a new weekly show called “The Best of the 90s” on the Chicago based FM Omni Channel. Described as “2 hours of the best R&B, hip-hop, and fun memories from the ’90s”, the show will include highlights of the best remixes, artist collaborations, hits from movie soundtracks, a back-to-back artist of the week, a “90s Opinion Poll”, and a “90s triple play” of 3 songs in a row from a particular year. There’s also a “90s Flava Pager” listeners can call and leave messages that may be used on the show, or text if they want to keep it modern. Listeners can also connect with the show on Facebook and Instagram @mcbestofthe90s.

Most recently, Chapman has been best known for sharing knowledge as a Music Historian in 18 episodes of the documentary series “Unsung” and “Unsung Hollywood”; including shows on ’90s artists like SWV, Tupac, Jagged Edge, After 7, and Case. He stated that “the concept of ‘The Best of the 90s’ is to bring the kind of energy you heard on urban radio back in the day and combine it with modern sensibility. This includes playing the classic hits plus the forgotten hits that don’t get as much attention as they did when they were out. It also means giving people a chance to express their opinions on different things from the ’90s through technology that was popular at the time, like a pager; and technology that didn’t exist back then, like texting and social media. Overall I want the show to be fun, and help people feel young again for a couple of hours.”

“The Best of the 90s” will air every Saturday from 5 to 7 pm Central Time on the FM Omni Channel.

To hear it, search for “95.1 FM Chicago” in your Apple or Google Play store and download the station’s app.
