Cox Media Group Radio Atlanta announced that Veronica Waters, reporter for 95.5 FM WSB, has won a 2025 Gracie Award for Outstanding News Reporter.

Waters has been with CMG and WSB Radio for nearly 30 years. Along the way, she’s won numerous awards, including a regional Edward R. Murrow for a web-focused Investigative Reporting piece on “Snaring Internet Predators.” She’s also been recognized by the Associated Press, Georgia Association of Broadcasters, and Atlanta Press Club (Reporter of the Year) and earned multiple Gabby Awards for the “Blood Sport” series on Michael Vick and a feature on WWII veterans returning to Normandy for the first time in 2023. Her work has been honored with resolutions in the Georgia Senate and House.

“Veronica is one of the best in the business, and it’s absolutely fitting that she earned a prestigious Gracie Award,” said David Abel, VP-GM of CMG Radio Atlanta. “She represents the best of CMG and our industry – she’s extremely hard working, she understands what makes for great news, and she leads with optimism and empathy.”

The Gracie Awards celebrate outstanding achievements in media dedicated to women, by women, and about women across diverse platforms in news and entertainment. The awards are given out by the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation (AWMF), the nonprofit organization supporting women across all media segments.

“We’re honored to be recognized by the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation for the impact our people and content have across our communities,” Abel said. “The Alliance shares our commitment to making a positive difference through our work, and we’re thrilled to be celebrating women like Veronica who are doing just that every day.” Waters attended Alcorn State University and Mississippi State University and lives in Atlanta with her husband, Arthur.
